In BioCoS we are committed to restore consumer confidence to this product by bringing solutions that safeguard integrity of olive oil.
The PurEVOO project by Bavarian Health and Food Safety Authority (LGL) and BioCoS aims to deliver an advanced molecular assay to detect admixtures of vegetable oil inside an olive oil, including species-specific biomarkers for hard-to-detect oils like hazelnut or almond. This assay will complement current official techniques in detecting admixtures in olive oil, with the ultimate goal to enhance consumer protection and ensure the integrity of an olive oil.
LGL, Bavaria’s leading authority in health and food safety, applies EU regulations to ensure olive oil quality. They bring decades of expertise in chemical and sensory testing to this collaboration.
BioCoS, a biotech innovator, leverages DNA data to authenticate and trace high-end olive oil labels. Their ethical approach supports sustainability, biodiversity, and local communities.
